University Commons Development
Under the direction of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, with the support of Ragin’ Cajun Facilities, Inc., a comprehensive master plan, including the development of mixed use facilities on property owned by the University has been completed.
As a result of this plan, qualifications are being requested for two separate developments: one for multi-family and retail development; the other for a hotel and expansion of the Cajundome Convention Center.
The focus of these requests for qualifications for developers is located in the district referred to as the “University Commons.” The major opportunities for private development in the Commons include: retail, entertainment, convention center expansion, residential uses and others, provided they are integrated within the overall master plan.
RFQ Questions & Answers
The following is in response to questions posed as related to the residential/retail and hotel/conference center RFQ’s for the UL Commons project:
Q: The RFQ references market (feasibility) studies for the hotel- can you provide those market studies to us?
A: The previously conducted market studies, performed by nationally recognized providers, will not be distributed at this time. Additional information will be provided during the RFP portion of the selection process.
Q: Given the short deadline for this project, would you consider pushing the due date for the proposals, even just until the week of November 6th?
A: The schedule published in the RFQ remains unchanged at this time. Responses are due by 12:00 noon CDT on November 2, 2017.
Q: Do you desire a full service or limited service hotel?
A: A full service hotel is desired.
Q: Do you have a preference for a particular hotel flagship / branding?
A: The preference is for a high quality hotel brand.
